GarLikins’ PMA Launch 2015 – New Produce to Revolutionize the Garlic Category

Visitors to the VoloAgri booth at this year’s Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia from August 29th – 30th were thrilled to discover VoloAgri’s new vegetable introduction to the marketplace – GarLikins. Tried by thousands of leaders within the produce industry from around the world, GarLikins were a hit with everyone from the garlic connoisseur to the less adventurous eater, providing an overall more mild and sweet garlic flavor catering to all taste buds.

“It’s garlic’s kissable cousin,” says VoloAgri Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Cook, “only a small group of brave consumers currently eat raw garlic in its harsh traditional form, GarLikins changes that thanks to a taste that is lighter and more sweet”.  With the texture of green onions with a mild, garlic flavor, GarLikins are grown by carefully selecting & planting the small bulbils which grow on hardneck garlic scapes. On the first branch of the garlic family tree, GarLikins are 25% of the pungency of regular garlic, adding culinary top notes to dishes in both raw and cooked form.

With more than a decade of varietal selection and development invested, VoloAgri holds the patent on green garlic commercialization. A select group of growers are being chosen to provide retailers with product in the spring of 2016.
